Optical Content Addressable Memories for Managing an Index to a Very Large Data/Knowledge Base
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper we present an optical approach for managing an index to a very large data/knowledge base. Specifically, our research is focused on optical content addressable memories (OCAM) based on holographic principles. OCAMs offer advantages over conventional CAMs in managing a large index, because OCAMs offer a considerably larger storage~ capacity (1O8~1Ob0 bytes) and parallel output. With the large capacity of the OCAM, the potential exists for storing full index data to a very large data/knowledge base, which would otherwise be prohibitively costly in conventional electronic CAMs.

One the challenging in hardware performance is to designing a high speed calculating unit. The higher of calculations speeds in a computer system will be pointed out in terms of performance. As a result, designing a high speed calculating unit is of utmost importance. In this paper, we start design whit this knowledge that one multiplier made of several adder and one divider made of several su...
متن کاملIntegrated Optical Content Addressable Memories (CAM) and Optical Random Access Memories (RAM) for Ultra-Fast Address Look-Up Operations
Electronic Content Addressable Memories (CAM) implement Address Look-Up (AL) table functionalities of network routers; however, they typically operate in the MHz regime, turning AL into a critical network bottleneck. In this communication, we demonstrate the first steps towards developing optical CAM alternatives to enable a re-engineering of AL memories. Firstly, we report on the photonic inte...

Associative processing based on content-addressable memories has been argued to be the natural solution for non-numerical information processing applications. Unfortunately, the implementation requirements of these architectures using conventional electronic technology have been very cost prohibitive, and therefore associative processors have not been realized. Optics has the capability over el...

متن کاملDegraded Printed Word Recognition with a Hop eld-style Network
We have previously developed and analysed a new Hop eld-style network model. This model has the advantage of higher storage capacity and less interference between stored memories than the standard discrete Hop eld network. In this paper, this model is applied towards machine printed word recognition. Words to be recognised are stored as content-addressable memories. Word images are rst processe...
